Physical TherapyTraining has been progressing smoothly and you've hit an injury speed bump.
Physical Therapy swiftly tackles your injury head-on with sound clinical reasoning by addressing your training load, biomechanical factors, nutritional considerations, and shoe wear. Typically our clients are back to running within the week. |
Treatment Philosophy:
Aches and pains are part of the runner's journey. Learning how to navigate these speed-bumps with precision keeps training consistent and at full throttle.
Controlled Chaos.
The training program. Workout and racing schedule. Sleep health. Nutritional health. Biomechanics & running economy. Strength & mobility. Shoes. Relationships & social stress. Injury Management is about attempting to control this chaos.
We start with a Running & Gait Analysis to put ourselves in your training shoes. Week to week - what are your habits, stressors, and routines? Is your training, shoes, nutrition, or recovery contributing to your injury? Once all of these variables come together, we can paint a full training picture as it relates to your injury.
We give you the tools to build a sustainable relationship with running. We hope to see you often, but with our approach we don't expect a weekly, indefinite, costly patient relationship. Let's diagnose, make adjustments, test our hypotheses, iterate until you're back on the trail - as quickly & effectively as possible.

What to Expect:
For In-Person Sessions:
For Virtual Visits:
In between visits:
What to wear:
- Each visit is 60 minutes in length, one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy
- For your first visit, we'll spend as much time as needed discussing your experience, and perform various tests to determine the cause of your pain and what to expect going forward
- For follow-ups, we'll spend the first portion of the visit assessing what worked last time, what didn't, and what your experience was like in the time between visits
- Likely some form of manual therapy will be used in the initial stages of the visit, followed up by specific mobility and strength work
For Virtual Visits:
- We're going to make efficient use of your home space, so bring any weights, bands, mats, rollers, or exercise equipment that you have
- We'll build your program around the equipment that you have available
- Come dressed and ready to move
In between visits:
- After your first visit, you'll walk out the door with a custom Durability Program, detailing exactly how to perform this strength program in tandem with your running & cross training
- This program progresses over time and will be updated after each PT session
What to wear:
- We will likely be using the gym space and treadmill, so come dressed ready to move
- Shorts are ideal if we're working on the lower body, t-shirt or tank if we're working on the upper body
- Bring your running shoes so that we can address wear patterns and perform a gait analysis
Insurance:
BEC is an out-of-network provider, which means that we do accept insurance with out-of-network coverage.
The pricing of your physical therapy care is dependent on your specific insurance plan and whether it has "out-of-network benefits" for Physical Therapy.

Billing Team:
The OYM billing team verifies your insurance benefits, submits documentation on your behalf, and keeps financial records updated and transparent.
We handle the insurance company gauntlet, you just focus on getting strong.
Why Out-of-Network?
Out-of-network allows our team to look at your individual case and do everything necessary to get you back. When you trust us with your care, our role becomes to guide, communicate, and advocate for you until your goals are met. Each hour-long session is focused, and your time between sessions is thoughtfully & carefully programmed.
The in-network business model puts hard working PTs at a disadvantage. The cheaper in-network price results in the PT seeing multiple patients per hour, more overall patients to manage, shorter visit times, and indirect care by using aides or techs. This unsustainable model of care forces the quality to be lower. It's the reality!
Out-of-network, although it can be more expensive initially, is an investment in your health. Generally, these high-value visits result in you needing less visits overall, and result in higher satisfaction than when compared to in-network PT. Additionally, once your deductible is met, coinsurance rates are typically less than or equal to in-network copay amounts.
Direct Access:
Walk-ins Welcome! Physical Therapists have "Direct Access," which means that clients can be seen by a PT without going to a doctor first.
So! Anytime something hurts, a PT can be there to help navigate your pain experience right away, rather than having to go through the hoops of the medical system.
With Direct Access, patients can be seen for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, before needing a script from a physician.
Since Physical Therapists work every day with every type of pain, they're incredible entry-point healthcare resources in diagnosing orthopedic issues and referring out to the most appropriate medical specialist when appropriate.

Running Analysis. Gait Analysis + Running Intake
With overuse injuries like those that occur with running, it's often difficult to point to one specific cause for your injuries. Your running biomechanics, shoe choice, training habits, nutrition, sleep & recovery, and past injury history all must be considered for before we can treat or reduce injury risk effectively.
Gait Analysis gives a window into how you're loading your body mile after mile. We analyze your loading strategies, asymmetries, and movement patterns in effort to maximize running economy. If you're injured, certain adjustments around your gait can help offload injured tissues to maximize fitness while safely returning to running.
Running Intake is an opportunity to address your training history, shoe wear, recovery & nutritional habits, strategize your upcoming training, and address any current injuries.
